Dental cleaning of your pet's teeth is performed in the clinic's "Dental Suite" as an anesthetic procedure. Your pet will be admitted in the monitoring and the majority go home in the afternoon or evening of the same day. After performing a thorough pre-surgical exam and reviewing your pet's pre-anesthetic blood work, the Doctor will oversee a cleaning of the teeth by a Veterinary Technician. While under anesthesia your pet's mouth will be examined for broken, decayed or missing teeth, ulcers, tumors or other abnormalities. The dental cleaning involves removal of accumulated plaque and tartar and includes polishing the teeth. Your pet is monitored throughout the procedure and recovery. Pet's go home with pain relief medication, antibiotics and home care instructions. Pets develop dental disease just like people do and your pets dental status will be evaluated at each wellness exam. |
